Recall a book
You may recall books currently on loan.
- The person who has the item will receive a notice giving them 15 days
to return it.
- If there is more than one person recalling the item, each person will
be able to borrow it for 2 weeks before having to return it.
- You will receive an email or letter letting you know when the item
has been returned and is available for you to check out.
- The item will be held for you for 10 days at the delivery point you
requested.
How to place recalls online
What you will need:
- The 14-digit BARCODE NUMBER on the back of your ID card.
- A verification number. (Initially, the last 4 digits of your Social
Security number.)
- Identify the book you want in the Library
Catalog (Use Basic or Advanced Search).
- Select the name of the library branch OR "Recall item" next to the
owned/out statement. This will display a list of volumes or copies in
a new window.
- Click the "Recall Item" link next to the copy or volume you want to
recall.
- Enter your ID Barcode Number and your Verification Number
Your Barcode is the 14-digit number on the reverse side of your Notre
Dame ID card.
Forgot your verification number? Request it to be Reset at a circulation
desk or send request to library.circ.1@nd.edu
You may also recall books by sending us an email or stopping by our
circulation desk.
